Welcome back to another icon of Kiwi Yachting. Des Townson designed Pied Piper launched 1964 22ft Party Yacht. A pictorial snap shot of this fantastic yacht.

Before they look this good, a transformation of epic proportions takes place under trees, back sheds and even front yards.

Usage profile:
Both cruising and racing, fully crewed and short handed
Speed comparison:
Smokes a Farr 727, when well sailed it can Nip at the toes of an SR26
Handicap ratings: (if applicable)
PHRF range 0.55 – 0.7
Geographical spread (where the boats are located):
Mostly Auckland (11 at BBYC, 4 at Milford, 4 at DYC), one in Wellington, and a few in BOI
General comments about this class:
Advantages:
Good cheap fun, simple to maintain and repair/ modify, great fleets, and
awesome camaraderie and class support
Disadvantages:
Timber boat and old hull, tight one design rules eliminate too much
developmental modification.
Who will enjoy owning one:
Younger generations into a bit of racing and some raftups and
cruising/partying (Have a party animal reputation)
Average hull age:
25 years
General fleet condition:
Very Good, Most boats have had an overhaul,
there are still a few that need work done/
upgrading but the price is reflective.
